Each year, the HCS Elementary school students participate in the Young Authors contest. Each student will create and publish a book to be judged by a panel of teachers. Students who receive highest honors move on to the Regional level with the opportunity to meet an Author.

During the school year, the HCS Elementary students have the opportunity to participate in various Drama activities, such as short plays acted out during weekly Worship time, and recitals of Poems during monthly PTO meetings.
In addition, the HCS Secondary school puts on annual plays with a Christian theme. For pictures of past performances, click here.
Elementary students attend music classes on a daily basis. Our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students have the option of participating in band as a “before-school” activity. In addition, all elementary students have the opportunity for individual private lessons as an “after-school” activity. They also participate in several musical performances throughout the year that include: Grandparents Day, Veterans Day, Christmas Program, and Academic Fair.
Secondary students may participate in Choir and Worship Band as part of their Elective Curriculum. The student Worship team provides music weekly for both secondary and elementary chapel services. The Choir travels to sing at several events around the city. The annual Valentine’s Day outing, for instance, can include as many as 15 to 20 different locations. In addition to the Choir’s participation, other secondary students are also encouraged to prepare solos and other musical pieces (with staff guidance) for an annual Fine Arts Festival that includes many different cities.
